Tea Party

I was able to go to Boise, Idaho to visit my grandma and two of my nieces were able to come with me(Taylor and Halle). We decided to go to Miss Tammy's Tea House for lunch. It is a cute little gift shop and eating establishment. It has a cute antigue feel about it. I believe the Red Hat Society meets there. I love it. Halle and Taylor were so excited about going there. We ordered drinks (water and sprite) and they wanted to get their drinks in Tea Cups.

I love spending time with the girls and my Grandma Robison. (I told her that she couldn't die this year because I can only lose one grandma per year). I would like to state for those that don't know about my grandma. She is a fiesty little lady (5 foot) and loves basketball (just like me). On her first date with my grandpa, he invited her to a basketball game because he knew she would love it. She shouted and taunted the players and refs.(so many things in common) We laughed that my grandpa was brave enough to keep asking her out. I am grateful he did.

In honor my grandmothers and my mom, I decided to include my favorite poem:

When I am Old I will wear Purple!

When I am an old woman,
I shall wear purple - -
With a red hat which doesn't go,
and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension
on brandy and summer gloves and satin sandles,
And say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
and gobble up samples in shops
and press alarm bells
and run with my stick along public railings,
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
and pick flowers in other people's gardens
and learn to spit!
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
and eat three pounds of sausages at ago,
or only bread and pickles for a week,
and hoard pens and pencils
and beermats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry,
and pay our rent
and not swear in the street,
and set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner
and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me
are not too shocked and surprised
when suddenly I am old,
And start to wear purple!

March Madness, Spring break, and Birthday

Ok, so I don't normally post this much, but it is Spring Break. I am avoiding homework. By the way, my birthday is coming up soon. I will be turning 30 years old. Can't believe it. I started a count down at the bottom of my page. I love presents, especially opening them (small hint, j/k). Hopefully, my sisters will remember to mail their packages early. Sometimes they get busy, which I can't believe because they have kids. :)

What I am going to do for Spring Break? Great question, I have been working on a term paper and other homework assignments. Today, I will take my two nieces with me to visit my grandmother in Boise, Idaho for two days. Boise, a great location for spring break because it so warm. (wow, my sacrasm is bad today.)

OH, I almost forgot to share my highlight of the week. It was filling out my brackets for the NCAA tourney. This year was harder than most because of the unconsistency of certain teams. I was randomly guessing for some of them. I am disappointed my alma mater didn't make it. (Go NC STATE) I am still a loyal fan, but realize they are not that good this year, to my dismay. I root anything ACC. which makes life difficult sometimes when your family is divided and you have to CHOOSE SIDES. Luckily, I live in utah where most people don't realize what the ACC is and think that Mountain west conference is the best. I am starting to understand why so many people here are die hard fans of the UTAH JAZZ. I think it is because they don't have great college ball teams here (in the mountain west) and anything exciting comes from the JAZZ. I have a new favorite NBA player, Deron Williams. He is amazing. You are probably wondering, whom did I pick to win. Go ACC! that is my hint.

Energy Vampires.

So I was on the web surfing the news and notice an article about people who are energy vampires. What? I have been using this phrase for more than 6 years. Somebody stole my idea, again. What are energy vampires? They are friends, family, or people you know that suck the energy right out of you. These people can do it in various ways. So people are negative and exhaust you with their comments. Other people you are not fully comfortable with and you feel like you need to entertain them when you spend time with. Tiring! Also, some energy vampires are one sided friends. The friends that talk your ear off and complain about their life and problem and are always taking in the friendship, not giving. My definition of Energy Vampires.

Time change & "pocket hotties"

Ok, so I love Fall Back and don't enjoy Spring forward when it comes to time change. The government messed me up by changing when all of these things happen, annoying. Well, it is nice not to be sick or something crazy going on. I give that one whole week. I am back to school and going to the gym regularly and I took a walk to a close park this week. Salt Lake City has some hidden gems.
Well, I did have an exciting weekend and was busy with friends on all three nights and some how fit in a going to the temple on Sat morning. Loved it. It was a wonderful weekend. School is going well, I am ready for Spring Break next week.

My current roommate is dying for me to give a little note about what she calls "pocket hotties." Definition is a guy who is good looking, spiritual, mainly a good catch but not for you. Or a hidden gem I guess. I don't know how I feel about this idea. At first, it made sense. They are many quality guys out in the world that are great, but not for me. Then, I felt the idea was too seclusionary (another made up word). I would love to get feedback on this idea. I am not sure.

By the way

By the way, My sister Jill is pregnant with her second and third. We found out this week she is having twins. TWINS!!!!!! She already has a cute little girl that will turn two in Nov and she is due in Sept. Yes, three children under the age of two. Twins don't run in the family (they are fraternal). CRAZY!! She was supposed to be waiting for me to have children, so her kids and my kids could play together. No luck now, I am really behind.

HOLY HANNAH!

That is all I have to say about the past week or so. As I look back, I am amazed that I am not really crazy, although some of you may disagree. After getting the flu and finally feeling decent (tiredness lingers with a cough), I get the call on Feb. 27th that my grandma Bartholomew passed away. She died early Tuesday morning, she had also gotten the flu (not for me) and her body was not strong enough to fight it. She was 90 and had lived a good life. I think she really missed her husband and finally has been reunited with him. Happy Day! Tuesday morning, my sister and brother, Sherrie, Brian, and I went to her house. My grandma had been living with my Aunt Ann for the past many years. We all had wonderful time remembering her. This was the beginning of the craziness. (side note, Wed i had a presentation in my class). My family gathered together, it was like a big family reunion. Even my parents were able to come from the mission in Australia to spend a few days, which really made my heart soar. We had huge celebration of her life. She was amazing, there were many stories told about her. By the way, the day of the funeral, the weather was awesome, 50 degrees and sunny. Major blessing. A perfect day!

I have two stories; 1. My grandmas was the type to always give advice, that was her thing. When I was a teenager and angry about something, who knows what, she told me that I am the only one that can make myself angry. It made me angry. I now realize what she meant. 2. My other sweet experience with my grandma is once when my sister, sherrie and I were able to attend the temple with her on a visit to Utah once. She was so excited to be going with us that she told everyone that we can into contact that day, that her two granddaughters brought her to the temple today. I mean everyone. I am grateful that she is no longer suffering and has been reunited with Grandpa Bartholomew (Victor).

Mom and Dad

I am not done yet. Things were emotional, then I had to say goodbye to my parents again, that was hard. I should almost mention that one of my best friends was having serious brain surgery at the same time in Raleigh, NC. Wondering why I haven't been sleeping. If you are interested, her blog is Erika Henderson. It annoys me greatly that I am not there to be able to help her and her family. Hopefully she will be released today from the hospital.
Don't forget I have school and homework and I finally started getting back into the swing of things by going to the gym and stuff. Yesterday, I decided to get sick again. This time no chills and aches, just puking in the middle of the night. Because I have already missed class for other reasons, I can't anymore and still have to do some homework. HOLY HANNAH! Too much to express.

Sidenote: I am ready for March, basketball brings me great joy and happiness. I officially didn't like February this year.
